Sweet, sweet summertime, the season of fresh fruits and veggies. But if you don’t feel comfortable venturing out to a local farm or market during this time, a CSA share might be for you.
You might be wondering: What is a CSA exactly? The acronym stands for “Community Supported Agriculture,” and helps farmers to bring in a steady profit while providing fresh produce to local customers on a weekly basis. CSAs typically operate on a delivery/contactless pick-up system.
Cropsey Community Farm
This local farm in New City, NY is supported by the Rockland Farm Alliance and offers both veggie and flower CSAs. Currently, there is a waitlist to join the veggie CSA, but flower shares (how fun!) are available for purchase online here. From mid-June to September, share members can come to the farm weekly and pick their very own bouquet of fresh flowers.
Greenwood Lake CSA
In conjunction with Blooming Hill Farm, Greenwood Lake Yoga is hosting a local CSA that runs from June 3rd to November 25th. Customers are asked to sign up for at least ten weeks, and available dates can be found here.
Norwood Food Co-op
Norwood Food Co-op is still taking on members for its 2020 CSA program. Find a comprehensive list of what produce to expect on their website above and fill out this Google Form to sign up for a share.
Stokes Farm
Stokes Farm in Old Tappan, NJ is a quick 20-minute ride from the Bergen County area, and well worth it for a box of local produce. Pick-up times run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays until September 25. Choose your desired CSA share type here.
